The Athletic Department Operations graduate assistant will have responsibilities related to athletics event management in addition to marketing/promotions/special recognitions as well as periodic compliance and student-athlete services responsibilities. The types of event management responsibilities the graduate assistant will be responsible for include but are not limited to: serving as “event manager” for home contests, tournaments and special athletic events as assigned; maintaining competition schedules; confirming officials; communicating with representatives from visiting teams in advance of scheduled competitions; helping coordinate and assist with field maintenance and facility set-ups for competitions; communicating with various Lock Haven offices and personnel regarding events schedules; representing the University at home tournaments, championships or competitions when appropriate; serving as liaisons between their assigned programs and the athletics administration; train, supervise, and evaluate student workers, etc.
This Graduate Assistant will also contribute to the essential responsibilities of providing a championship caliber athletics experience for Lock Haven student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community. Event management is one of the primary responsibilities of the department, which contributes to the student-athlete experience and retention, prospect recruiting opportunities, as well as alumni and community relations.
This graduate assistant will also be expected to:
•Drive teams to and from competitions as needed.
•Attend all regularly scheduled departmental meetings as their schedules permit;
•Consult with their supervisor(s) and/or appropriate administrative staff in conducting the day-to-day business of athletics;
•Maintain a “team” approach and embrace the athletic department’s mission, vision, and core values;
•Teach and develop the life-long attributes that athletics has identified as important to develop within each Lock Haven student-athlete;
•Maintain a daily schedule that is reflective of the scope of their administrative GA responsibilities;
•Promote a strong athletics program and represent the University and Lock Haven Athletics at the highest level of character and integrity;
•Contribute in a positive way to University life and the local community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Admission to Commonwealth University graduate program
- Hold valid drivers license and pass van training that is provided by the university
- Effective organization/administrative skills and computer knowledge
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Multiple Graduate Assistant Positions Available: Women’s Wrestling, Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field, Women’s Volleyball, Baseball, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Swimming
The primary function of a “sport” Graduate Assistant at Lock Haven is responsible for assisting the Head Coach with the management, development, and implementation of all aspects of an NCAA program including but not limited to: budgeting, fundraising, planning, evaluating, organizing, scheduling, recruiting, skill instruction, student-athlete development, academic support, and game plan development.
The “sport” Graduate Assistant position will assist with fundraising, marketing, and promoting the sport, planning, and implementing summer camps, clinics, and tournaments, the recruiting and retention of student-athletes, and coordinating team practices and competitions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Admission to Commonwealth University graduate program
- Hold valid driver’s license and pass van training that is provided by the university
- Effective organization/administrative skills and computer knowledge
