Instructional Technology

 

Position description (i.e. general duties):

  • The GA will be assigned a research projects that will facilitate discovery in the use of new applications & other uses of emerging technologies that directly relate to education and/or organizational change.
  • Project includes researching applications for specific programs of study in a university setting.
  • Project will involve decision making - determining what applications align with course offerings in departments across campus.
  • GA will encourage faculty to use new technology tools to increase scholarly interest in subject matter.
  • Assessment – Scheduled presentations with departments scheduled by supervisor, Instructional Technology trainer. Presentation of final project in a workshop for Springboard with Instructional Technology trainer or other similar conference.
 Basic requirements (i.e. typing, filing, lifting, driving, teaching, speaking, computer, etc):
  • Strong oral/written communication skills that include prior student teaching experience or several public speaking experiences are preferred.
  • Basic computer skills – electronic mail systems, word processing, file management, basic Internet searching skills are required. Blog and/or Wiki skills are a plus.
  • Digital & traditional filing skills are required.
  • Ability to keep projects organized. Prior research skills are a plus.
Specific assignments/responsibilities:
  • (To be discussed throughout the year and at the evaluation meetings)
  • Project - iPad application research, pilot. This project will involve numerous disciplines.
  • Project – Media projects: editing video, and developing course content. This project will span multiple disciplines.
  • Projects listed above would take considerable time, and would span an entire academic year. Pilots can be done by the term, and involve more than one GA, but preferably one GA that is full-time would be able to accomplish at least one of the above mentioned projects.
  • Other possible projects, would be a web “presence” or personal learning environment project.
