Position description (i.e. general duties):

  • Development of a community-based regional planned giving round table advisory group – planning meeting agendas, speakers,
  • Establishment of class gift committees for upcoming reunion classes 1963/64/6,
  • Establishment of senior class gift committees for 2012 & 2013 graduates,
  • Strategic implementation of annual employee campaign drives,
  • Solicitation and identification of opportunities for partnerships with individuals and businesses, and creative planning and project management of programming for the Annual Scholarship and Major Donor Dinner special events.
Basic requirements (i.e. typing, filing, lifting, driving, teaching, speaking, computer, etc):
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Some public speaking skills in small group settings; facilitating group process and interaction.
  • High degree of organization skills, including establishing timelines and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on aspects of more than one project at any given time.
  • Ability to use social media, i.e., Facebook, Myspace and twitter to convene groups and solicit input.
  • Computer skills that include MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, Publisher, Hot Banana (web editor) and customized databases.
  • Ability to research what other higher-education institutions are doing to accomplish similar desired outcomes using the internet, phone, and other library resources.  
Specific assignments/responsibilities:
  • Planning and developing agendas and securing speakers for round table and reunion class meetings
  • Assisting with the preparation of roundtable and gift committee materials.
  • Convening and leading senior class gift committees
  • Working collaboratively with SGA and other student groups and alumni to increase awareness of gift groups and recruit committee members, to include sending recruitment emails and making phone calls
  • Increasing awareness of planned giving roundtable efforts by making phone calls and sending emails to increase participation of key community players
  • Updating materials on the website and using social media and networking with other campus groups to recruit and support committee participation
  • Working with supervisor to develop and refine an outline for the employee campaign roll out and all associated materials
  • Planning for programming and assisting in developing the project plan for one to two major “Thank You” donor special events
  • Providing direction in implementing the special event/s project plan and ensuring work study students and volunteers understand their roles and carry out their tasks and responsibilities
